6:02 pm Advice

Not only should you feel better after performing these tasks, but your health will improve and you will feel psychologically refreshed.

10. Learn Something New
Whether it’s studying a foreign language or just surfing the internet looking for interesting facts, the mind never stops learning. If you put effort into finding the new knowledge, you become more aware and grow as an individual.

9. Exercise
To get the energy flowing into your life, exercising can offer great benefits. Not only will your physical health improve, but . If you are not in any good shape, try doing physical activity for a short of period of time daily, and increase at your own pace, such as a walk around the block, or a few jumping jacks or push-ups.

8. Limit Free Time
Make sure to keep playful activities in their proper place, and don’t let them distract you from work or other important factors. Some people (such as I used to) get carried away with fun things and never got any work done.

7. See your doctor
While, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” may not be entirely true, you may not be as healthy as you may think. For example, if stress is a factor in your life, your immune system weakens and infections may develop.

Rather than having the “Oh, this itch or disease will just go away in a few weeks” mindset, you may discover a deeper problem which could have been cured long ago. Doctors (usually) know what they are talking about.

6. Start a Journal or Blog
Writing can be an effective way to channel your thoughts and get your word out there. While not a psychiatrist, journaling is an inexpensive way to let your feelings out and discover more about who you are. In a week or two you may find out something about yourself you didn’t think existed, or could have existed.

Now that internet is widely available and cheap, letting the world know how you think is easier more than ever. Some examples would be starting a blog about something you are passionate about, or tell others how you feel about their blogs.

5. Maintain a Healthy Diet
Eating the right foods is already common amongst most health gurus, however each of our diets are different. Most vegans do not eat meat because of nutritional value that is retained. Others avoid certain foods such as nuts or milk because they are allergic. Some universal tips I offer is to avoid junk foods and anything that does not provide nutritional value to your body. Also diversify your diet, you may discover foods that are enjoyable that previously seemed disgusting.

4. Clean Environment
The environment can have a large impact on how we function. Dirty rooms are unattractive, make things hard to find, and probably affect your health. Steps to take towards a clean environment may include installing an air filter, changing your bedsheets, or dusting around the house.

3. Join a Group
Whether it is a school team, a social gathering such as a health club, or even just registering for an internet discussion forum, groups offer interaction with, group activity is good for your social skills.

2. Give up Television / Entertainment
Nothing is less productive than staring at a screen doing nothing.

1. Open your Mind
Even if you do not agree with 100% of advice given to you or facts presented that do not align with your pattern of thoughts, there is a reason why they exist.

So listen to that song you found annoying, or visit that website that offers alternative viewpoints. In general, as long as you are willing to try new things and discover varying opinions, you grow as an individual and can become a better person for doing so.
