10. Gambling
“The house always wins” is a phrase that is very true, yet so many people gamble anyway, with little or no chance of winning. Even if just for the thrill, there is much luck involved, and without a skill possibility, there is a high chance things will not go your way.

9. Marketing Scams
After watching a dateline special about Internet email scams, and the statistics they offered, it seems many people are susceptible to these get rich quick schemes. Although not the only form of scamming out there, Internet scams are difficult to track and bring to justice, as they promise millions in return for processing fees, paid deadlines to meet, and other sorts of rip-offs.

8. Plagiarism
Nothing hurts more than being a victim of thievery, and in this case, stolen intellectual property. It is no secret that high school and college students throughout the world use copy and paste tactics to escape the hard work of completing essays, projects, or a senior thesis.

7. Business Deal
We’ve all heard the stories where someone comes up with a great idea and someone else takes all the credit for it. For example, a partner may apply pressure to your business plan if they do not agree with your operations. Some people may even go as far as deciding to work for a competitor and give away company secrets if the price is right.

As dealing with products you probably barely even know, some salesmen use this to their advantage. For example, a computer programmer may know nothing about automobiles, or vice versa, and the car salesman will use all kinds of technical terms about horsepower, engine capacities, etc. to convince you that his product is the best.

With sales tax, income tax, property tax, and all other forms of taxes, much of your money may go tho programs that you do not support, or aren’t even aware of. If only the government could balance its budget and cut state and federal spending, everyone would be able to keep more of the money they rightfully earn.

Whether it is your friend, a family member, or a coworker, everyone is susceptible to secrecy and betrayal for their own personal gain.

Not from any past experiences of mine, but I can imagine the pain someone must feel when communication problems arise in a troubled situation, or even worse, when they have their heart broken. Aside from being cheated on or used, getting a divorce, or just plainly falling out of love, relationship difficulties can be a primary cause of feeling screwed over.

When your boss utters those two infamous words to you, “You’re Fired”, not only do you lose your primary source of income, but a feeling of guilt and depression could come over you, wondering why you were let go. Whether it was something you were responsible for or not, it does not matter, due to the feeling of powerlessness that can overbear you.

Plenty of financial burdens exist, that some may find ludicrous or even downright useless. Ranging from insurance fees to credit card debt, just about every company that you deal with will try to save and keep as much of the money for themselves. Bankruptcy is the ultimate form of financial misery, as no cash means no business, no luxuries, and no freedom.
