10. Realization
You realize you will die someday and you just want that day to come faster. Why wait impatiently day after day for it to come?
9. Poverty
Two variations of poverty can include groups of birth and new. Many people are born into poverty from all over the world and may not find life worth living without money. The other group may have had lots of money at one time and have since lost it. For example, many Americans lost their savings and wealth during the Great Depression, and as a result we saw people jumping from buildings, etc, killing themselves.
8. Humiliation
You were completely humiliated (preferably in public). Perhaps you were unfortunate enough to have you best friend or even your parents embarrass you utterly and you hold no contempt for them or their actions towards you.
7. Impotency
You feel that you are dumb and are not capable of improving. While many people encourage you and say that you can improve, you know in your heart that it is not possible, with a few people (that are usually mean) tell you the cold-hearted truth of your own stupidity.
6. Pain
You are in so much pain and cannot take it anymore. While pain is a broad category, I am referring to physical pain. For example a soldier that gets shot during a war or a person that has been in a car accident and has to eat through tubes for the rest of his days may not want to live that sort of life.
5. Loss of Faith
You’ve lost faith in life. Conceivably some significant event takes place and you no longer feel god is watching over you and loneliness fills the void.
4. Love loss
A long term relationship just ends and people lose the will to live. There have been stories of people crashing their cars and slitting their wrists after their ex dumps them. Also some people may consider never getting to experience love far worse, for example there are elderly people that go through life without anyone and end up dying alone.
3. World is undeserving
You feel that the world does not deserve your knowledge and wisdom. There have probably been moments where you were right and everyone else was wrong. You may also feel like saying to some people “Oh my God, a baby could have done that!” or “How could you not know that?”.
2. Depression
You feel severely depressed and the reason to kill yourself was probably decided upon by a combinations of the points listed above. Since depression is caused by various events, both personal and public, you may know that you are not the only person feeling this way, as millions of people suffer from depression every day.
1. Apathy
You just don’t care about anything anymore.

I don’t think anyone ever killed themselves for humiliation or apathy without there being some other, more deep-rooted feeling first?
99% of the suicidal cases I’ve known were due to sexual abuse/rape. I guess this would come under pain?

Hi Suzie,
While I don’t know anyone personally that killed themselves over apathy or humiliation, I’d figure those were probably the states of mind they had when they did it.
I’d probably classify sexual abuse / rape as under pain too, and probably love loss, since most victims knew their attackers, and loved them in one form or another.

I think that guilty conscience should be on there. If somebody does something that is so awful, to oneself or to another, that they are tormented by their own thoughts and guilt, which they cannot live any longer knowing what they did. It would be considered an escape mechanism to one’s insanity. I guess that could fall under humiliation. Anyone agree?

for number 8 though I would not say stupidity more like ineffective or can’t build or rebuild whats been lost. Then you just give up shed some tears and say goodbye…

so… what if one of your family members committed suicide and you just realize that nothing has ever been the same without them? And that everything is so bleak and meaninless now that life is going on without them… and you are just tired of all the pain of life… what does that say or tell? Who can tell me what catagory it falls under and who really cares? The bottom line…. pain is the answer. When a person feels so much pain all they can think about is just STOPPING it… why doesn’t that matter….? Who can help with HOW to STOP the pain????? I really don’t care what “box” the pain comes from…. all I care about is how to stop the feelings of wanting the pain, IE Desire o die: “STOP!!!!”

Hows aboutemotional reactions such as anger. That your parents mistreat or just disregard you so much that you kill yourself to get at their conciousnesses. Would killing yourself after commmiting a crime so you dont serve jail time count? Could making a statement count? Your school is too hard on you and your peers keep insulting you. Could you kill yourself just to say “this is your fault. I died to cause change. Think about it.

Justin, your right as it often happened to me.. I meet most of the reasons, some I think I don’t cause I don’t understand what they mean. I ruined my life many times before, and I lost hope in love yesterday. Everything I had or wished for disappeared. I’m just thinking about suicide to stop the pain..

I think the #1 reason for suicide is not getting a cupcake when you want it. I think the moment you want a cupcake and there isn’t one around, you just kill yourself. Everyone attributes it to all this depression and stuff, but the facts boil down to a single cupcake. When the craving strikes you better have one near by or life is over for you.

Guyford, you are sick! For those of you contemplating this, well I’d have to say I agree. You fight, cry, crawl, work, sweat, bleed and cry some more. Mostly for dreams that are not real and you hope that after enough work, bleeding, crying and fighting to achieve whatever it is you find the simple truth. It is not real! I do ask you to take up one or three habits or activities. Smoke, drink, run, workout, ride, drive…. I don’t care what but one more day may be the day that goes right. DO IT. Semper Fi! I wish to be dead but I live.

My brother called up one day and uttered 7 words I never heard him say. I love you & I’m proud of you. the next day he took a bottle of cheap whiskey and a Saturday Night special and departed the land of the living. Devastating all, but mostly my mother. A part of her died that day, but I think he left us with a greater mystery than the existence of a god…why. NO one can answer either question.

I’ve gone through the list and a few more not said. From it all the main reason is that others don’t understand or even be angry for the feelings I have. The main reason I won’t is I want to see my father in heaven.

I dont get the point of ending your life!!! God put you on this earth to live and make his creation better.I have thought about this over and over.before you feel like you ever want to do this do 2 thing: 1)think of your family and friends and how they will follow your footsteps 2) Read the amazing book “Thirteen Reasons Why” by Jay Asher. It will change your life.Just look around someone loves U.

Okk, I’ll say yes thats a great book but for all you people who dont want to read when your thinking about ending your life…. STOP! There is something amazing out there for everyone, there is a boy/girl, a carrer, and everything else that IS important to one’s life.

There is no real reason to kill yourself what would be the point of killing your self you wont be any better off than you are before uyou did i think if you ever want to kill yourself you should stop and think about first of all there is always somewhere you can go were someone will love you a church is a good place people there will help and dont feel bad for asking for help everone needs help now and then but at a church the can introduce you to a person who will always be your freind and at church you can make freinds who wil never stab you in the back but they will be there to love you no matter what and to help you through rough times

ok so i totally hate my life the guy i loved betrayed me.I just want to die i feel so alone. I started cutting and crying my eyes out because that asshole started flirting and dating my friends so Im just going to die without him.I still love him.What should i do?????

Abby, why would you even worry about someone who’s being an asshole. Learn to do what the rest of use do when we get burnt.. say F$#$ em and move on.. Go do something you like to do.. go shopping with a gf or something. go find a new boy.
