Top 10 Reasons to Believe in God
May 19, 2007 8:28 pm Philosophy & GodI am not a religious fanatic, I wrote this list as a counter-balance to Top 10 Reasons to Not Believe in God.
10. Time
Religion has been around for centuries, and despite all the scientific advances and arguments for evolution, we still cannot explain where everything came from.
9. Many People do
I am not saying that just because everyone else does, you should too, but there are many people out there who believe in faith, and perhaps they discovered something that atheists and agnostics have not.
8. Morality
This argument states that because Moral Objectivity exists, God exists. God is the best answer we have that explains how moral objectivity works.
7. Mind-Body Problem
This problem states that consciousness and materiality cannot exist without divine intervention.
6. Cause and Effect
According to some philosophers, anything and everything that has ever happened has had a cause, therefore the very first event had to have been caused by a supernatural being, God.
5. Peace
Many people feel a sense of meaning and purpose in their lives when they accept god into their life. God’s faith has been known to influence criminals and crooks, etc. into making decisions that help them turn their life around.
4. Afterlife
The idea of life after death is something just about everyone considers in their lifetime. If you decide to believe in God this can be on of the perks of doing so, knowing that you have led a moral and just life, you will get entry to heaven and lead a pleasurable and happy afterlife at no cost. Some may believe that this alone is reason enough to believe in and accept God.
3. Ontological Argument
The underlying idea of ontology is that “It is impossible for a being that has the characteristics of God cannot exist”. Since God is the highest power in existence, no other being more powerful than god can exist.
2. Historical Perspectives
Different historical events such as the resurrection of Jesus and the Exodus (Moses receiving the Ten Commandments) imply that there are forces at work that humans and modern day sciences and technologies cannot comprehend.
1. Journey of Life
Many consider life to be a beautiful and wondrous journey. Life without God or some sort of Supernatural Force seems to go against the foundations of nature itself to those people and there is no better clarification to explain.

“10. Religion has been around for centuries.”
So has gonorrhea.
And what have arguments for evolution to do with where things came from? Evolution is not a theory about the origin of life.
